Teams app 'No Permissions' error when downloading attachments on Mac

I get an error in the macOS Teams app when trying to download an attachment, the error says " Couldnt Download - No Permissions" . I can download via Teams in the web, so i know this is an app issue. My macOS is Sonoma 14.8.1. I will upgrade to Sequoia to see if this resolves the issue. Has anyone else experienced this?

You probably have to give the Teams app permission to access the Downloads folder (assuming that is the configured location for downloads in Teams).

I was having this same issue. After some digging here are several things I found. Under privacy settings on the Mac, Teams had full access. In Teams, I had the downloads set to download to my Desktop and the toggle to ask before downloading was turned off. When I changed the downloads location to the Downloads folder, or if I hit the toggle so it asked where to download, then it worked and didn't throw an error.

I did a chat with Apple Support and the solution was to delete Teams and empty the Trash Folder. Then reinstall Teams. It had changed the downloads location back to Downloads, but when I changed it to Desktop, it kept downloading perfectly as you would expect.

As of now, it is working perfectly and I'm able to download directly to my desktop without needing to have it set to ask where to download. Hopefully that works for you too!
