In iOS 26, when you load up the group chat and look at the members, there appears to be no option to add or remove a contact from they thread. Previously you could click the gray arrow and swipe on a name. There’s no gray arrow anymore, and there’s no option to add a contact. When you click and hold down on the contact bubble it doesn’t give an option to remove.

That option is available for group imessage of 4 or more people all Apple device users.
