Messages not accessible on ios 26.0.1 on iphone 16 pro

iOS 26.0.1 on iPhone 16 pro.

Can’t access the messages app on the phone at all.

how is this supposed to be acceptable? How has such a software been okayed for mainstream release? I have quit the app multiple times, force restarted the phone multiple times as well.
