MacBook Pro battery suddenly died, won't charge anymore

Hi!

I was recently using my MacBook Pro (2020 M1 13in, Sequoia 15.5) as normal, and left it to charge. It charged up to 100%, at which point unplugged it and put it in my bag.

Fast forward a couple of hours, I open it again, and it's dead. It went from 100% to 0% (see image) seemingly instantly??

The laptop now only works when plugged in and the battery doesn't charge, instead says service recommended.

I am really confused as it was completely fine and working great mere hours ago.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you see Service Recommended on your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro - Apple Support

Sometimes, that is their failure mode.
