New photos not immediately visible in Photos library after taking them on iOS

When I take a new photo, it does not immediately appear in my photos library. It downloads from iCloud? This is the dumbest possible change to photos with the new operating system. I would like to look at my photos immediately after taking them. Did the person in charge of this update ever use the camera or photos app previously? Truly baffling.

Could you please add a bit more background information? Are you asking about an iPhone, iPad, a Mac? Which system version ate you using on your device?

When I take a new photo with my iPhone (with iOS26), the photo will appear instantly in the Photos Library on the iPhone, but it may take a while, until the photo will appear on my Mac with macOS26. iCloud Photos tends to pause to save battery power, so I have continually to trigger it to start syncing again.

This is different for screenshots. When I take a screenshot, it is not instantly saved to Photos, but waiting to be annotated. I have to tap the yellow checkmark in the upper right corner to save the screenshot to Photos.
