Never opened 2nd Gen Apple Pencil won’t charge past 0%

I’ve recently bought the 2nd Generation Apple Pencil for my Ipad Air 4, I bought it online from an authorized Apple reseller because all my local stores said they don’t stock the 2nd Gen anymore. When I attached the new pencil to my Ipad, my Ipad recognizes it, so I left it to charge. But even when I left it overnight the pencil won’t charge past 0%. I’ve asked for a replacement two times now and every pencil they’ve sent does the same thing, every box says the factory date is from 2022, so I think that might be the issue. I’ve tried doing the hard reset with the pencil still attached and anything I could find online, nothing works. So now I wanna know if anyone has experienced the same thing and if they ever fixed it. Please help me 🙏

Old rechargeable batteries left uncharged for years will fail, yes. Inevitably, and inexorably.

Particularly, the small batteries such as those here don’t have much margin.
