How to recycle an incompatible Apple Pencil for a refund?

Hi Apple support community i have a bit of an issue. I got "Apple Pencil Pro" as a gift to my sis and it turned out the pencil dont match with her Ipad. The seller said that they can not replace or refund the item since the box is opened. So I wanna ask if there are a way to give Apple the pencil to recycle or something like that and get refund for it . I tried to sell it but no one is wanting to buy it
