iPad Air 13” M3 Magic Keyboard Backlight

I purchased an Apple Magic Keyboard for my Apple iPad Air 13” M3 October 1, 2025 at Best Buy. This keyboard is marked on the packaging for the iPad Air 13” M3. There is no backlight on the keyboard. Previous keyboards have the backlight. Following the procedures, online helps, to activate the backlight have not helped.

Am I misinformed? Is there no backlight on the keyboard I am typing from (in relative darkness)?
