no i don’t have contact with the person who purchased it. but isn’t there anyway to find out? i’m pretty sure apple watch’s are packed together with the bands before purchase so i thought the device serial number might be in connection with a band, i also wonder how apple might decide what band i had if i submit a claim. would they just take my word?

Im pretty sure it’s covered. i have applecare one so i’m sure i have loss and theft on my apple watch and i’ve been told that there is a policy in the US specifically about the apple watch band. my only problems are that i don’t know what band is originally connected to my apple watch as well as apple does not state there policy on how they find out what band you have.

Here’s a discussion about the band during a replacement Is the Apple Watch band included in Apple… - Apple Community this information can also be found by just googling if your watch band is included in a replacement. google will tell you it is
