iPad Magic Keyboard not switching to Text Expander keyboard in iPadOS 26

Using iPadOS 26, iPad Pro, Magic Keyboard. Using globe key switches only to Emoji keyboard. Using Ctrl + space, produces a fleeting “A” below the cursor but does not offer to change the keyboard. I am trying to activate the Text Expander Keyboard and have done everything to set that up. Anyone else having this problem?
