Printers Vanishing from System Settings after macOS Sequoia

I called Apple Business and EDU Support and spoke with an agent. They acted like they had no bug reports and no awareness of this issue. My next steps are to perform a fresh install of the affected OS's (14.8, 14.8.1, 15.7, 15.7.1) and see if the issue recurs. They alway want me to try a fresh install without my MDM (Jamf School) and also with and without my printer management client (Vasion Print/PrinterLogic). So they've given me about 20 hours of homework before they'll help me any further. I tried pointing them to google and threads here, on MacRumers, and on Reddit, but was a no. I also tried to get them to take some log files to review to see if they could track down exactly when/why the printers disappear. Apple will not take log files until I've done the fresh installs, with and without MDM, with and without printer management client.

I'm part of a 2 person IT team for a small school district. I don't have time for this right now.

Experiencing the same thing here at work with Mac Studio's and 2008 Mac Minis all running 15.7.1

Can't believe Apple has not fixed this yet.

In a work enviroment this is a nightmare!!

I tried what you suggested with Apple Remote Desktop and it didn't work. All my printers we gone again. What I have been doing to resolve this every day is taking a backup of my CUPS folder and copy/paste into the /etc/cups folder and replacing everything, then reboot.

Here is the command to clear out the custom power on/shutdown settings:

sudo  pmset  repeat  cancel 

Regret that while my pmset "sleep" approach seemed to be working over several days, with printers remaining present, the issue re-appeared overnight. So more research is needed, along with continued feedback to Apple.

FYI, it is against this forum's Terms of Use to post anything about any beta software or unreleased versions of macOS.

Similar issue with family member who lost the ability to print after an update (don't know what particular update caused the issue).

Envioronment:

M4 imac

MacOS: Sequoia 15.7

Epson: XP-2100 Series printer

Tried all suggestions in community posts but no success.

Appeared to be an OS issue as all printers disappeared in Settings | Printers & Scanners

Could not select a driver even though re-installed printer drivers and could see the printer via bonjour and web GUI.

Took a punt and applied macOS Tahoe 26.01

Miraculously we could now set the printer driver and re-add the printer.

Issue resolved.

Changing the Settings as you suggested (first screenshot below) did not prevent printers from vanishing in my test. Maybe I need to uncheck all options and days of the week instead (second screenshot)?

Also, I have an open case via Enterprise Support that's been escalated to the Engineering team that I'm waiting to hear back on after having submitted the requested data capture (logs, etc…). I'll post back with any relevant info they offer…

It's happened to me after several working Time Machine drive migrations on new and existing Macs with Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia and Tahoe. I have just put two-and-two together and begun to ID the problem, so that's all I have, but I just did a migration from Mojave to Ventura and it wiped printers. It could have done it on an overnight, as I didn't notice it right away, and I do use ARD.

There is an 3rd party app in the Apple store that will take of this... PowerWizard.

Works as it should and somewhat resembles the old macOS look of the shutdown options window.

This fixed my printers disappearing. How do you remove the setting once Apple fixes the issue? Thanks!
