Battery Drain on iOS 26 and iOS 26.0.1.

Good morning everyone,

I would like to report a VERY SERIOUS problem with the battery and performance.

I have a NEW iPhone 15 with 100% battery capacity and only 22 cycles (which I did myself; when it arrived, it was at 0).

However, after updating to iOS 26 (and even with iOS 26.0.1, the situation remains the same), I continue to have VERY SERIOUS problems with the battery life of my NEW phone.

Today, I was busy all day and did not use my phone from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., yet it still dropped from 90% to 45% WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING. No apps were open, the “Refresh apps in background” option was not enabled, the screen was set to turn off automatically after 30 seconds, and automatic brightness was enabled. So it's definitely not the phone's fault because it's BRAND NEW with a 100% ORIGINAL battery, nor is it the settings because it was in PERMANENT POWER SAVING mode. So the fault lies solely with iOS. There are no excuses.

I am writing this message to urge Apple to resolve this issue as soon as possible because, from what I have read on X, I am not the only one.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I’ve seen location services running every time I unlock my phone. This does drain battery.

5. Lastly 26.1 seems to have improved the battery management. Not sure though. Do not forget to update all apps and do a force restart before these measures.

Yes, some may ask why bother buying a smartphone then but maybe as a temporary measure to save your battery performance until it’s fixed.

Mine it's iPhone pro 16 I was just at apple my battery is working on full capacity and right after the update my battery goes down in few hours. Before that I it won't be wasted below 60% even in good use . And that's why I came to check what the new update did that the battery is draining just like after every big update and something is switched on to do so hidden till ppl figure it out .

Thank you Andrea-Filice for your patience and persistence in this battle. I experience similar symptoms and have tried many of the “fixes” suggested by Apple with little or no success. I havent the time or patience to spend on it but will strive to endure until Apple truly corrects the problem, or I’ll explore Samsung options. Thanks and best of luck.

No I don't have knowledge unfortunately, I thought they read a minimum of what users say about them but instead.

I was also going to go to the Apple Store (the closest one is in Milan) to maybe tell them I don't know, unfortunately they can't do anything.

Crazy battery drain now nothing changed in my use yet now I have to charge a couple of times a day and see my second app down 9% usage for something that was open 30 minutes (the app connects to my solar system) that’s just insane

Good morning battery drain team! Latest status. Removed my phone from the charger after overnight charging at 6:00am. Battery showing 100%. Laid the phone down on the kitchen counter. 2 hours later with no use at all, battery was down to 94%. But, according to John, it must be user error or incompetence, lol.

Not only battery drain issue i am facing in my iphone 14. also it has bugs in wallpaper settings.while i am trying to set up my wallpaper from lock screen screen gets laggy. Need to solve these issues asap

This is called obsoletion.

the iOS is optimize for the phone they want you to buy not the phone you have.

No matter how many things they’ll give you the option to turn off, the drainage will still be credited to all the new features causing the drain regardless if you turn off the features and never use them.

this message will self destruct in as many moments it takes someone else to censor it.

I am also having the same issue after updating to the new IOS 26.0.1 I have an iPhone 14 pro.

I use to be able to go 12 hours now I can't even get 6 hours out of my device with out charging it.

Apple needs to fix this issue ASAP

Yes I have the Same issue with my iPhone 16 Pro.

use to go all day with out needing a charge now I have to keep it on the charger most of the day. I should just go back to a land line if I need to be tied to a wall outlet all day.

They should have to replace our batteries. My gets way to hot after the apdate. Never had that before. My phone is only 6 months old. had 100% battery health now 98% 4 days later. Crazy. Its just sitting on the desk and its still hot for some reason.

I have a similar problem on my 16 pro. It is brand new and when i was on a trip with my friends who were all on ios18 I experienced approximately 15% higher battery drain compared to others that is just not acceptable

Hi Jeff i see you here defending apple and blaming other apps. Here is mine for example from today. I have this since 26.0.1. Multiple restarts, adaptive mode on-off etc. Spotify running in the background 12%? It is a joke but let’s say it is not an apple app, fine. Home screen/lockscreen 5m 5%? Really? Messages 5m 3%? How is this not a clear ios issue? How didnt we have this drain on ios18?

Anyone any thoughts around the battery life below? Just over 2hrs of screen time draining the battery to 5% does not seem right?

Also why is Facebook using background data when it’s turned off?

A perfectly good iphone 13 pro is not holding a charge for longer than 20 mins after ios26 update. This is ridiculous!

working all day the phone sits idle and then i watched the battery drain for no reason.

before this i needed to charge once every 2-3 days thats how low my usage is

Help me also understand how i just charged my phone back up to a 100%. And within 2 secs after disconnecting the charger, it switches off and restarts to the battery at 10%? And now we plugged in the charger again and sez 70%. And dies after unplugging the charger. Apple needs to figure this out!
