Crucial X10 Pro stopped working for no reason

Hi all,

I am using a 14" MacBook Pro with an M1 Pro processor. I was using the Crucial X10 Pro 2 TB SSD for the Photos library, and it was working okay generally (sometimes it failed, etc., but came back eventually, either by itself or after changing the USB cable). Yesterday it failed completely, and I cannot see it even in the Disk Utility. We accidentally unplugged it while the lid was closed, and then I reconnected it. The Photos app was working afterwards, but in the morning, it was gone. I tried connecting to an iPhone or iPad, but none of them recognises the drive. A Windows computer thinks that there is a USB device, but cannot do anything, such as scan for any issues, etc. Do you think the SSD failed for no reason, or it might be a software related issue?

Thanks

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 26.0
