Apple Pencil 2 not responding after iPadOS 26 update on iPad Pro 12.9″ (4th gen)
After updating to iPadOS 26.0, my Apple Pencil (2nd generation) suddenly stopped working correctly.
- The Pencil charges normally when attached to the iPad.
- It pairs successfully over Bluetooth and shows the battery percentage.
- The double-tap button on the Pencil also works.
However, the tip does not register any strokes or taps on the screen — no drawing, no input.
Steps I already tried:
- Re-pairing the Pencil (forget device in Bluetooth, then pair again)
- Restarting and force restarting the iPad
- Resetting settings
- Cleaning and tightening the tip
- Swapping to a brand new replacement tip
None of these steps fixed the issue. The Pencil was working perfectly earlier the same day before the update.
Device details:
- iPad Pro (12.9-inch, 4th generation, 2020 model)
- iPadOS 26.0
- Apple Pencil (2nd generation)
I want to know if others are seeing the same issue on this model and if Apple is aware of a fix in an upcoming update.
it’s a shame that this problem happened right when I needed Apple Pencil the most!!!!!
