Can’t text photos to Android users

Trying to text photos to my parents who insist on having Android devices, they regularly get stuck. The status bar gets to about 90% then sticks and eventually fails. Why is this the one thing Apple can’t figure out how to make work frictionlessly? It’s like the bad old days of Apple Maps.
