Unable to access other WhatsApp chats during a call after update

I used to be able to make a WhatsApp call and while still on that call I could access all my WhatsApp messages and type replies to contacts. Since the new update I can make the call , look at WhatsApp for the contact I’m on the call with BUT there is no longer a bar with a left arrow that lets me access my other chats . Is there a fix and/or is anyone else experiencing this new glitch to whatsapp

Hold and press the what’s app button and a menu will be displayed select and press “new chat” this resolved this issue for me

take into account my phone is set in Spanish, so “ new chat “ could be written differently

I have ran into this issue also, a way around it is to call the person on mobile, and then access whatsapp other chats. If the person is unreachable on mobile and u can only reach them on whatsapp, then you have to wait for a fix. I hope they fix it fast, cause it sucks

I have the same issue. It’s definitely a design bug in WhatsApp as you see the old button (left pointing arrow top left of screen,) but then it instantly disappears with the chat of the one you’re speaking with overlapping the button.

I think this is a very serious problem and I don't understand why they removed this very useful feature. I've looked everywhere, but it seems that Meta is really to blame, as they created a new version of WhatsApp with the arrival of iOS 26. Even with iOS 26.01, the same problem persists, so it's clear that a new version of WhatsApp is needed. Unfortunately, contacting them is really difficult, if not impossible, because only a chatbot responds! Help!!!!
