Restore from iCloud new iphone 17 Pro setup

For reasons that were not clearly explained, the BlueDart/DHL representatives did not allow me to transfer data from my old iPhone 16 Pro to the new iPhone 17 Pro as part of the trade-in process. They insisted, without providing a valid explanation that I erase all data on the old device and hand it over before receiving the new one.

As a result, I’ve been trying to restore my data from iCloud onto the new iPhone. Unfortunately, the restoration process has made no visible progress over the past hour, and the estimated time remaining still shows "About 2 days." This entire experience has been quite frustrating and inconvenient.

I would like to understand what the other options for faster data transfer to my new iPhone are?

Can I setup a new iphone as-is and once I downloaded all the apps manually from app store and then run the backup to get the data like photos, videos and other stuff from iCloud? Is it possible

yes, you are correct. I'd a good discussion with them but they were just not ready to listen.

Yes, I am connected to super-fast Wifi and plugged in but no response from last 1.5 hours.

OK, but were you able to at least package the trade in the trade in box and seal it before giving it to them?

If your phone is stuck in the restore from download process, Force Restart it --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Something doesn't sound right with this. I've never heard of a shipper requiring you to hand over the trade at the time of delivering your new iPhone. Did you have the time to put the phone in the trade in box and see it sealed? Apple has never required a trade to be returned within minutes of getting a new phone.

On the transfer of your backup, are you plugged in and connected to Wifi?

I'm based out of India. Yes, Bluedart / DHL is a courier service official partner of Apple India for trade-ins.

So finally, i setup as a new iphone and then activated my apple account then enable the iCloud services and now i can see the data backup activity is going on and can see the photos, videos, sms, notes and whatsapp chats.

Facing an issue while configuring my hotmail account - too many requests, on iphone 17 pro.

Yes, after blue Dart executives ran diagnostic, i got the package with new iPhone 17 Pro and they took iPhone 16 pro.

After this one more surprise happened, Blue Dart guy again called and said diagnostic didn't run properly so I'm coming to run it again at your place - now that completely confused me. I found something is off here and immediately raised a ticket with Apple Support and had a call with them for about 25 mins - Apple confirmed that there is not issues/discrepancy at your side after doing the due diligence and Apple advised me if Blue Dart executive again called you - ask them to raise a concern with Apple and Apple will reach out to customer if there are any issues.

So, my iPhone 17 pro - trade in experience got sour!
