Keyboard mini bar displaying while using Apple Pencil and Bluetooth keyboard on iPad

Any suggestions for this problem with the keyboard mini. I’m currently typing on a Bluetooth keyboard with absolutely no issues. Intermittently, I’m utilizing my Apple Pencil. When this occurs the keyboard mini bar displays at the bottom. In fact any time I touch the screen to “select” a word the mini display occurs. Can I disable this? Why is this happening when my keyboard is in play?
