safari crashes on ipados 26 immediately at launch

After upgrading to ipados 26 on ipad pro (M4), the safari doesn't work. It immediately crashes when I try to open it.

From the settings, I

  • deleted website data, browse history, and the open tabs
  • disabled all safari extensions

I also

  • Restored ipad using apple devices on windows
  • tried different WIFI and mobile networks

None of them fixed the issue.

The other browsers work fine.

Thanks this actually helped me.

First I exported my bookmarks so that they are not lost: From Apps-> Safari > History and Website Data > Export

Then

  • turned off iCloud sync as you suggested.
  • opened safari -which worked-
  • turned on iCloud sync again. When it asked whether to keep or delete the data on ipad/icloud I chose the delete option, because keeping the data brought back the problem. Note that delete option deletes open tabs, passwords and bookmarks (so don't do it if your not OK with it).

When all safari data on icloud and ipad data was deleted, safari worked even after I turned the iCloud sync on.

Finally, I opened the export.zip file at my computer, deleted the passwords and kept only the bookmark html file in the zip file. I moved the zip file back to ipad, and imported it to the safari from apps > safari > History and Website Data > Import option.
