How to disable liquid glass in iOS 26?

Is there a way to completely disable the liquid glass functionality on iOS 26? I'm not going to get into a lengthy diatribe over why it's awful, I just want it gone.

The new iOS 26.1 update is absolutely infuriating. I have a hard time adjusting to change and not being able to switch the display back to how it looked before the update is completely inconsiderate. Please create a way to change it back to the original display for me and everyone I’ve talk to today who also despises this update.

in particular the apps opening and closing, I have turned off the motion and yet it does not change it back, it makes me motion sick.

Uh so frustrating it really makes me sick. These changes help so much though thank you so much. I wouldn’t switch without looking into it especially since everyone in the family has iPhone except my brother and I see how much it messes up family communication. I just can’t feel sick doing basic functions on the phone. I don’t like it but I think I can function with the changes in your response it is at least enough for me to not be ill.

That's a good suggestion. I don't recall seeing it before.
I mentioned this setting in my Love it Hate it thingy --> Liquid Glass - Love It Or Hate It - It's … - Apple Community

Embarrasingly, while I link to your User Tip frequently, I haven't actually read it that closely. I trust you.

100%, the keyboard starts indented on the left and right so there is now less space and the keys are more narrow. Why not use the entire left to right screen. Also they added a bar above the keyboard on all browsers that hides form buttons and fields.

Liquid Glass and whatever display brightness changes were made in 26.1 have been giving my eyes a major strain and severe headaches. Something has definitely changed. Even with all the suggested settings tweaks in accessibility and display, I’m struggling to look at my phone for more than 2 hours a day whereas prior to iOS 26 I could use my phone for 8+ hours a day with no discomfort.

No worries. You know I'm thorough!

My phone just updated last night and I hate the “glass” feature and the appearance of “swooshing” when opening apps, texts, etc…. It creates dizziness and is hard for my vision/brain info to “manage. Please, 🍎, give a way to turn off!

Perhaps, just a thought here, but maybe don't just respond to the first post of a thread but actually take your time to read where there are posts, which could actually help you?

For example, had you opened this link, which has been posted in this very thread, multiple times, you might not have needed to even post here --> Liquid Glass - Love It Or Hate It - It's … - Apple Community

Since the update ISO 26

Anytime I go to fill in texts in Safari, the keyboard pops up on the bottom and something drops down from the top and I cannot see when I’m trying to fill in.

This operating system is terrible. I see no need for it except for aesthetics. If this continues, I will be switching to android after having nothing but Apple phones for the past 20 years.

What do you mean by something dropping down from the top?

Do you have a screenshot where it may be helpful to visualize what you are seeing?

That is your choice and it makes no difference to any of us. I have both platforms in my family and there are pros/cons to each of them. If you would like to look at the Samsung/Android support site, you see those same posts where users are going to buy an iPhone because of their experience. That just seems like a go to response when someone does not like something, not really from those looking for support.

It's not possible to read the time on my lock screen due to the type being semi transparent. Reducing transparency has not impact on text, only on the background. The whole Liquid Glass thing is awful looking; it looks like something is wrong with the display, the app icons look like what happens when printing is out of registration. There NEEDS to be a way to turn it OFF!! Seriously, Apple, what were you thinking?

Hi, Realise Liquid Glass has been out a while now but only just updated and hate it. Have tried the Display & Text Size/Reduce transparency setting which helps but now all my notifications coming up in black. Is there a better fix to reduce the awfulness of Liquid Glass now please? Fortunate not to need glasses to use phone but with Liquid Glass it felt like I needed glasses to see it so imagine it must be AWFUL for those with reduced/impaired vision. Plus who wants buttons that look like cheap bubble wrap? What happened to Apple's cutting edge design? Also why make the library photo in the camera app circular rather than square unless you really want people to see less of their previous photo!
