Selecting the printer in Photos

Every time I try to print a contact sheet in photos

no printer is selected - even though I have an HP on the network AND
There is an error message - "Internet Connection Required - ... An internet connection is required to download larger versions of these items for printing" ... Have checked network settings and it is in place - printed a simple test - OK.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 15.6

Check the pictures you're trying to print-- can you edit them in Photos? You may see something similar when you try if the Original files are stored at iCloud Photos, or if the Originals aren't available for some reason. As, Keith Barkley was suggesting, you may need to have those downloaded before the printer will handle them.

Do you have both wired Ethernet and Wi-Fi networking enabled?

Do you have more than one Wi-Fi router in use?

Is the printer accessible using AirPrint?

HP has myriad printers, and too often with confusingly similar names. Which particular model are you using?
