Delete Read-Only Event from Calendar

I made a reservation on a site, and I usually accept calendar events for this place when it comes up as a suggestion via email or in Calendar. However, this time, I clicked the link on the site instead. I wanted to edit the event but couldn’t do so, so I tried to delete it and create a new event manually so I wouldn’t have duplicate events. However, each time I pressed delete event, it never left the calendar. The event says it’s an invitation from me and is read ony. I just want it off! How do I remove it?

Are you syncing a Google or Outlook calendar to the Calendar app? The link would have determined what calendar the event was added to, while the event suggestion you normally use in the Mail app always adds it to the iCloud Calendar. You may need to go that Google or Outlook calendar to remove it from their server so it is no longer synced to your Calendar app.
