Disappearing email drafts and webpages on Mac mini with LG monitor

Have to go back into email program to recover from drafts.

Other occasions things like a webpage, do the same but I cannot recover them.

No idea what I am doing that might prompt this as I'm usually head down typing

New to Mac-what a change from Windows!

Mac mini few months old. LG 34" curved screen monitor.

TIA
