Since Sequoia, I can't add folders to the Favourites Sidebar from "Save" and "Open" dialog boxes

Before I upgraded to Sequoia I used to be able to drag a folder to the Favourites Sidebar from a Save (or Open) dialog box. Now this functionality has gone and I can only drag a folder to this Sidebar while using Finder. Any fix coming for this?

Mac Studio, macOS 15.5

Yes, this is a known change introduced in macOS Sequoia. Previously, users could drag folders directly into the Favorites Sidebar from within Save or Open dialog boxes. However, after upgrading to Sequoia, this drag-and-drop feature no longer works in those dialog windows. It still works within the Finder app.

Current Solution:

To add folders to the Favorites Sidebar, open a Finder window, then drag the desired folder into the sidebar. Once added there, the folder will also appear in Save/Open dialogs under the Favorites section.

No official fix yet, but you can send feedback to Apple if you’d like this feature back:

Hi.

Since Sequoia dragging folders to the Favorites Sidebar from Save or Open dialogs no longer works. This functionality appears to have been changed by design. You can still add folders to Favorites via Finder as before.

Theres no official update on whether this will change in the future. For now, adding folders through Finder is the recommended method.

Hope this helps.
