How to resolve 'no space' error when upgrading MacBook Pro?

I can’t upgrade to the new OS version on my MacBook Pro. When I try get message that I have no space. I definitely have space. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

How much space do you have?

You probably need around 50GB at least. The download may be smaller, but then it needs to be decompressed and there needs to be space to temporarily have both some old and new files until installation is done and some of that space can be recovered.


Anyway, even if you have some 50GB it is really low for even normal operation.
