credit card error in wallet app

A charge on a credit card shows the incorrect vendor. When I look at the credit card account using Safari on my desktop computer, the charge shows the correct vendor. All other details of the charge are the same on both platforms. Where does the Wallet app get the information that it displays? Why is there a discrepancy? I called the credit card company and they say it's not their problem. I am not disputing the charge. The charge is correct. I am concerned that there is a problem with how the Wallet app is getting the information it is displaying. This doesn't inspire confidence in the accuracy of the Wallet app.

The information concern the actual transaction is sent from the bank, not Apple. This does not include location data.


Location data is crowd sourced by your iPhone, not Apple. The location could a a cell tower, or merchant’s ISP point, VPN etc.


A year ago a community member saw a location in another country. As I explained the situation it was determined a VPN was involved.

I’m referring specifically to how the charges are displayed, which is by the name of a restaurant we ate at. In safari I don’t see any info other than the restaurant name. In Wallet, tapping on the item in the list jumps to a pane that shows a different restaurant and its location. Both places are in town, and we’ve eaten at both, but not recently. I wouldn’t expect them to be owned by the same entity. Possible, but unlikely, I think, given that one is a Japanese place and the other is Indian. In any case, the amount of the charge is correct, so I’m not disputing the charge, exactly. I’m just concerned that it’s not being displayed correctly.
