The date and time on my Macbook is wrong every time I log in. I know the fix is to type sudo sntp -sS time.apple.com into Terminal. But how on earth is this still an issue? Why haven't they fixed this? It's been going on for years

remove the corrupt plist.
from the Terminal.app copy & paste:
sudo rm /var/db/timed/com.apple.timed.plist
(note—your psswd will not echo on screen type it in anyway, use the enter\return key to proceed. Quit Terminal.)
Reboot and compare your results.
That is NOT a pervasive MacBook or any other Mac issue.
But several different issues around system time have been reported here, and there are many DIFFERENT fixes available, which depend on your EXACT symptoms.

If this is a "Macbook" bug/issue I've never heard of it. These communities would be overrun with posts like yours if there actually was such a bug. There are millions of Macbook users who are not experiencing this "bug" as you call it.

The effect of that bug must be limited to a specific combination of Macs and macOS versions.
I've never encountered it on any iMac, MacBook or Mac mini that I've ever owned.
How is the bug with date and time on Macbooks still an issue after all these years?
