Why is my Mac's Touch ID login not working and requiring password?

This is the screen i am on. What last change i did was changing the lock screen time to never. Now even if i revert the settings, i dont get the usual lock screen which use to come

Sign in to Mac with only touch ID I don't want to type my password every time I turn on my Mac. How can you disable the password and use ONLY touch id to login? Touch id is pointless if I still have to type my password.
