How can I recover blank PDFs synced to iCloud Documents folder?

PDF file corrupted and became a blank fil… - Apple Community

The files show a size and have a page layout eg 2 pages or 1 page. But the page contents are blank. I know I saved them to my Documents folder but all are blank??!? There's nothing in my Time Machine!

Documents Folder Disappeared Off Mac Downloaded some fairly large PDF files a few nights ago for work and my Documents folder on my Mac was suddenly no longer available in Finder. Went online for a solution and accidentally clicked on syncing my documents and desktop folder with iCloud, and then got the scary message that unclicking this would result in loss of information. (Probably didn't read that right but when one is panicking the details are inconsequential!) All of my files are confidential due to the nature of my work, so not thrilled they're sitting on someone else's storage. How can I get these back? I went into iCloud and there is no option to download these back to my computer. I also tried to create a new Documents folder on my Mac so I could do a good old fashioned copy and paste but I'm not sure where to do this. I see from other posts this has been an issue for a while but I didn't see any recent posts for others having the same issue so concerned doing what has been suggested before will make the situation worse. I have a Time Capsule backup if it comes to that.

Why did my Documents file disappear from my MacBook Air local drive with last apple update? With last Monterrey 12.7.6 update my local Documents file disappeared. Gone. It and all files were still on iCloud, but nowhere locally. I didn't reconfigure anything. How do I get my Documents file to reside locally on my MacBook Air as well?

.pptx.icloud Unable to Open File While trying to free up some space on my macbook, I uploaded many files and folders to Google Drive. Now when I try to access them, I cannot open them. They all end in either .pdf.icloud, .doc.icloud or .pptx.icloud. I uploaded the files a long time ago, so there is no chance of recovering them from my iCloud. I have also tried changing my Google Drive settings to convert upload to Google Drive format. I have also tried using keynote to open then. No luck with anything. I really need these files so any advise is greatly appreciated.

You can only restore from your backups.
