Since updating to 15.4 my messages ap and Podcast app on my mac just shut down. They don't appear to crash since I don't receive a pop up stating the app has crashed. I don't appear to be having issues with any other apps. Suggestions on how to repair or fix?

Found the source of my problem, and indeed it's a different issue. Somewhere in the past, I sent some stickers from a sticker pack that came with an app on my phone. But the app (and hence the stickers) are not on my Mac. Deleted the stickers from the conversation on my phone (which still had the app on it) and now iMessage has no issues anymore.

Experiencing the same issue here. Seems limited to Mac OS apps so far. Messages refuses to stay open beyond a few minutes whether holding shift while opening or not. 2023 MBP M3.
Safe mode reboot doesn't help

Seems to be connected to a new message and/or the notification badge.
FWIW, and just in case this info is helpful to anyone, I've determined that the Messages app being closed does not prevent messages that are set to be sent later from going out.

Also experiencing the same, Studio Mac with M2 Max. Only started happening after upgrading to 15.4. Also happening on my M1 MacBook Pro.

I was in the middle of so much work and the entire computer shut down!!!!
This is happening to my iMac after updating to 15.4.1. All of my apps when I try to open them, Final Cut, Slack, iMessage, email, freezes and crashes.
oh noooo... that is brutal. I appreciate you letting us know though and I'll wait to install the point update. Was messages or anything else crashing before the .1 ?
Same issue. iMessage is crashing every 5 minutes. Brand new Macbook Air M4 with 24GB RAM. Crazy.
Last update 15.4.1 didnot fix the issue, also not works run messages with shift...
Was coming here to ask if anyone had installed 15.4.1 and if it fixed the issue. Boy!
