Unable to install macOS Sequoia update 15.4 on my MacBook Pro

Experiencing an issue with installing the macOS Sequoia 15.4 (24E248) software update. Chip: Apple M1 Pro.

The internet connection and power are stable, and I have rebooted the system multiple times, but the issue persists.

Tried updating both via the GUI and CLI:

CLI: Prompts for a password, then exits without any error, even when using the --verbose flag.

GUI: Asks for authentication twice, then returns an error without providing any additional details.

We've been facing this at my workplace. I spent some time testing things and the one thing that actually ended up working is running the following script:

sudo softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 15.4 --launch-installer -R

Pretty much pulls the full installer for 15.4 and will download it to your Mac. It should auto launch the installer after (Don't worry it will not wipe the device). If it doesn't auto launch the installer should be in the applications folder in finder.

Hello everyone.

For the past few hours, I have received an error message on startup saying:

"You shut down your computer because of a problem (click ok to reopen apps or click cancel to continue startup)."

This issue happened because of a panic I received today when my computer unexpectedly restarted from sleep mode. Here is the full panic report:

My macbook air is over 5 1/3 years old and it is due for replacement in the next few months since it cannot support the latest version of macos. In the meantime, I am planning to use the computer for as long as I possibly can.

The issue that I have is possibly an issue with the firmware.

Hi everyone, I thought this thread might help me with the issue that I’m facing.

some time last week I updated the macOS , mostly 15.4.1 on MacBook Pro M1. It was working fine until today noon. While I was on mac, suddenly the display went off with smart bar lights being on for a short few seconds and then the entire mac is dead. Now I’m unable to turn it on, even though the charger and cable are working fine.

Im bit lost, can someone advise how to get the MacBook turned on? I tried few of the steps given on apple forum but no luck. Is there even an option for me other than going to Apple Store to get it checked/fixed?

Looking forward for your inputs!

Thanks

Sachin
