Sounds like the multiple failed attempts caused a fraud alert to be placed on your account (card). These holds (alerts) can last anywhere from 24 hours to days, weeks and even months. You’ll need to contact your bank and they may need to talk to the payment network (VIsa, Mastercard, American Express etc.) to have the hold removed.
