Will disabling iCloud backup on iPad affect data transfer from iPhone?

I have an iphone and ipad that have the same information on them. Whenever I take a picture, update my calendar, add/edit a contact, etc., the information automatically goes to the other device. I mostly use the ipad for reading books and watching movies, but it has everything on my phone on it. Here’s my question. Both devices back up to icloud. If I turn off the ipad from backing up, it would free up a lot of space in icloud. However, if I do that, will what I do on my iphone still transfer to the ipad? Will my photos, calendar, contacts, notes, etc., still go to my ipad from the iphone if I turn off icloud backups on the ipad? Thank you.

iPad Will Still Get Files:

Items will still go to it; your iPad just wont be backup up in iCloud.

Download All of iCloud:

So, you might want to see just how much space is taken by iCloud Drive. Download all of iCloud Drive to an external hard drive, and then trash all of iCloud Drive, once the backup is complete. You'd find the info using the Search box in the top-right corner of a Finder window. Use my user tip: Getting a Quick and Direct "iCloud Drive-to-External Hard Drive" Download - User Tip

Thank you so much for your response. I logged into iCloud to see what you're talking about. I don't have anything in iCloud Drive. My pictures, contact, notes, calendar, etc., are in iCloud+. How do I download everything to my computer from there?

I don't think I need to backup both my iphone and ipad, since they have the same information on them. I would be happy just backing up my phone, as long as the information still transfers to the ipad. Once I confirm this is what I want, I'll turn off backups for the ipad.

Thanks, again, for your help!

Turning off iCloud back up on your iPad will not affect the data that is synced between the two devices. It will only stop the iPad from backing up.

To stop syncing data between the devices, go to Settings>Account>iCloud>Saved to iCloud>Show All. Turn off everything you don't want to sync to iCloud (and therefore to the iPhone).
