How do I use a U.S. Passport for Apple Card identity verification?

I applied for an Apple Card and then I needed to verify my identity. I then used a US Passport. This caused confusion?????? Apple said I needed a State Driver License or ID Card. I thought the Federal Government ID card is “de Joure” Apple has to have a way to accept a passport, right???? Help!

Apple has no say in the matter. Apple Card is issued and serviced by Goldman Sachs bank. The bank follows federal banking guidelines and regulations in regard to their requirements.

Why? Banks are required by banking regulations to Know Your Customer. These are collectively known as KYC laws. This requires banks to know and verify your address. US passports do not contain the required information in a verifiable form.

You can satisfy the bank’s requirements by obtaining a state issued ID.
