iPod Classic 7th Gen shows up in Finder sidebar as a drive, but can't sync.

I had a 7th gen iPod Classic that both showed up in Music and Finder with the sync options, but the hard drive got corrupted. I just got a replacement (refurbished) one, but this one won't show up in Music, and only shows up as a hard drive in Finder (i.e., it doesn't present the sync options for playlists, etc).

I have a 2022 M2 Macbook Air running Sonoma 14.6. There hasn't been a software update or anything in the time between the previous iPod working and this one not showing up. The software on the iPod is up to date. I'm terribly confused as to what could be different / wrong this time.

Update: restarted my computer and everything appears to be working. Nevermind!
