Adapter for the older round plug that worked with iPod

I have an old ipos with the larger round plug hole. I would plug it in to a portable speaker that had the larger round plug. Is there an adapter to make the round plug fit an iphone 14

iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 18

If I've understood you correctly, you want to use the speakers (that you have been using with your old iPod Touch) with your iPhone 14.

However, an iPhone 14 does not have the 3.5mm headphone jack (the "large round socket") found on the 2nd generation iPod Touch.

Instead, the iPhone 14 relies on Bluetooth to connect to speakers and headphones, so the question is; does the speaker set have Bluetooth capability? If you don't know, either:

    • check the instructions for the speakers if you still have them to see whether they mention a Bluetooth feature
    • look for the Bluetooth symbol and/or button on the speakers (the button is used to connect to the iPhone, while the symbol indicates that Bluetooth is connected. The two functions may be in one button). The Bluetooth icon should look similar to one of the two shown below:

    • let us know the make and model number of the speakers and perhaps we can find the information

If the speakers do not have a Bluetooth function, there are adaptors to convert the Bluetooth signal that have a 3.5mm socket into which you could plug your round plug, but they may be difficult to find and expensive to buy. It might be easier to buy a Bluetooth speaker instead.

  1. You need to identify the actual iPod model so we understand what you are talking about.
    1. Identify your iPod model - Apple Support
  2. iPods historically have had 3.5mm audio jack and the 30pin or Lightning connector for charging and song transfer. The 3.5mm audio jack is round and was used in some models for charging and data transfer
  3. What exactly are you looking to accomplish? Connecting an iPod to an iPhone will not result in anything useful. The iPhone cannot access the iPod's contents or use it for anything and it won't play music from it.
  4. A picture of the iPod would also help us.

That model number corresponds to a Second Generation iPod touch.

It has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a 30 pin connector for data and charging.

If the speaker used the 3.5mm headphone jack, you can use a Lightning to 3.5mm Adapter and a 3.5mm audio cable to connect it to the iPhone.
