Just depends on who you give your email address to. Of course if someone sends you an email, it will show up on your phone. Apple is not sending you political messages and they also don't generate revenue by selling your personal information.

While Google claims they no longer sell your information to third parties, they certainly have been caught doing it in the past and have been fined for that action. The majority of the revenue comes from targeted advertisements.

Also expect any email address used by Meta for Facebook or Instagram to be in the hands of a third party. These services are free for you to use, but Meta makes billions of dollars in revenue by making the user the product and their information is being sold to third parties.

Prevention is the key when it comes to receiving spam emails whether they are political or some prince in Africa saying you have money coming to you. Apple provides a service called Hide My Email that allows you to create alias email addresses when you must give it out that you can easily cancel at any time when you are done with the service and protects your Apple ID email address from being exposed.
