Is my iPhone playing lossless music from the CD I imported to Mac?

I like to import CDs to my library on Mac and I do have an iTunes Match subscription that auto-sync whatever i imported to the library on Mac so I can enjoy my CDs on my iPhone. But I want to make sure what I’m playing on my phone is the exact same file as my CD’s. In other words, in ALAC format. No doubt the files on Mac are still ALAC, but does it change to AAC when it syncs to my phone?

Hi,

If you add music to you computer as ALAC and use iTunes Match, matched tracks will be 256 Kbps AAC on your other devices. Uploaded music will be transcribed to 256 Kbps. The original tracks on your computer will be unaltered unless you opt to remove original and download the matched version.

You could subscribe to Apple Music which includes iTunes Match functions. However, matched versions on your iPhone may be available to download or stream as lossless or hi-def.
