How can unknown contact access my FaceTime?

While using facetime on ipad received messages from unknown person saying "turn on your cameras". How could this happen?

Hello~ Were you FaceTiming with someone already and were seeing their face? If audio only they could have asked you to turn on your camera or asked accidentally with this message. Explain your situation in more detail…
