safari for ios randomly launches favorite

but the issue has been happening since iOS 17 so, nothing new.

Sometimes when I’m scrolling in Safari, it goes without notice to one of the top “favorite” sites. It’s not always the same site, but it’s always one of the first ten that are present in my favorites.

The site is opened on the same tab I’m currently in, so I need to press the “back” icon.

I tried to search for possible hand gestures that could trigger this, but I have not find anything. Why is this happening?

In some ways, it’s almost like the system thinks I tapped the address bar, and then one of the icons in the “Start” page), but while I cannot ben 100% that I didn’t scroll down to the point of touching the address bar I’m sure the start page is not shown when this happens.
