Forgotten MacBook Air password

I have no password or recovery key. I do, however, have my Apple ID and password. I have tried all the methods I have access to, but the computer is set to Automatic login. This means I do not get a login screen and no access to login options. I cannot access the admin functions without a password. Is there a way to force the computer to go to the login screen when I power up? Is there a way to change password or other settings through my Apple account?

If the computer is automatic login mode, it should just login for you without the need of a password.

I have never used this mode.

Try booting up in Safe Mode.

If you don't have an account on that Mac, you are going to run into issues and need to take it to Apple.

I don't recall being able to use one's Apple ID and password to alter how a mac starts up.

To get to the login screen, just choose "Log out..." from the Apple menu.
