Apple TV on Windows does not hide the player controls and taskbar

To get rid of player controls - move cursor to far edge of screen.

I haven't figured out the taskbar issue, I just have to right click on the taskbar, go to taskbar settings, then behaviour, then hide taskbar automatically.

It's a pain but does at least allow you to watch full screen!

For me that taskbar problem only occurs when i start a film in fullscreen and then open another programm, like my browser for example. If i don't switch the focus from the movie, the taskbar will be hidden the whole time. Otherwise the only solution for me is to restart the apple tv app. If the control elements are shown i just click somewhere in the movie screen and they vanish 1-2 sec later.

The on-screen controls are supposed to fade in a second or two, if the mouse pointer isn’t moving. Please verify that your mouse isn’t on an uneven surface that could cause the mouse pointer to move between two pixel positions back-and-forth.

I use autohotkey and use a script and load it on windows startup. Now I can toggle the taskbar on/off easily just by pressing the F12 key. I got it from here: https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=60866 . There are some scripts on the thread, here's the one I use:

Ok there was an update of the Apple TV Windows app and it seem to fix the issue.

I right clicked on the Apple TV app, when to settings and then repair and that fixed the UI not fading, regards taskbar can just right click the taskbar and under task bar behaviour select auto hide.

Had the same problem but went to Start and right-clicked the app. Selected more then clicked to repair the app. On-screen controls vanished. Already auto-hide the taskbar so everything looking good again for me.

Here's a fix for the taskbar:

1) Right click blank part of taskbar -> "Taskbar settings"

2) Scroll to the bottom and click "Taskbar behaviours"

3) Turn on the 2nd option "Automatically hide the taskbar"

4) The taskbar will now be hidden until you put your mouse at the bottom of the screen.

This is a bit of a hassle but it allows full-screen 👍

Not really a definitive fix, but you can set the taskbar to automatically hide under the taskbar behavior settings.

On Windows 11: Settings > Personalization > Taskbar behaviors

I couldn't find any. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app fixed it temporarily, but it came back just few moments later. I guess auto hiding the taskbar is the only solution for now.

What worked for me was to remove the Apple app from the taskbar. I have tried it a few times now and it works so far. I will check back in if the problem comes back.

I pinned it to Start instead of the taskbar.
