Apple TV on Windows does not hide the player controls and taskbar

This is the state of the Apple TV app on windows, it's literally unusable. If this is the way of apple deliberately making the UX worse on non apple devices, guess it's time to cancel my sub.

To get rid of player controls - move cursor to far edge of screen.

I haven't figured out the taskbar issue, I just have to right click on the taskbar, go to taskbar settings, then behaviour, then hide taskbar automatically.

It's a pain but does at least allow you to watch full screen!

For me that taskbar problem only occurs when i start a film in fullscreen and then open another programm, like my browser for example. If i don't switch the focus from the movie, the taskbar will be hidden the whole time. Otherwise the only solution for me is to restart the apple tv app. If the control elements are shown i just click somewhere in the movie screen and they vanish 1-2 sec later.

I use autohotkey and use a script and load it on windows startup. Now I can toggle the taskbar on/off easily just by pressing the F12 key. I got it from here: https://www.autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=60866 . There are some scripts on the thread, here's the one I use:

$F12:: HideShowTaskbar(hide := !hide)

HideShowTaskbar(action) {
   static ABM_SETSTATE := 0xA, ABS_AUTOHIDE := 0x1, ABS_ALWAYSONTOP := 0x2VarSetCapacity(APPBARDATA, size := 2*A_PtrSize + 2*4 + 16 + A_PtrSize, 0)
   NumPut(size, APPBARDATA), NumPut(WinExist("ahk_class Shell_TrayWnd"), APPBARDATA, A_PtrSize)
   NumPut(action ? ABS_AUTOHIDE : ABS_ALWAYSONTOP, APPBARDATA, size - A_PtrSize)
   DllCall("Shell32\SHAppBarMessage", UInt, ABM_SETSTATE, Ptr, &APPBARDATA)
}

as @hawkeye26 mentioned, auto hide works to get rid of the taskbar.

For player controls there is a small workaround.

Play any Apple Event replays in the app, surprisingly these videos don't get this problem, you can watch it for a couple seconds then play your preferred movie/show. This time, the player controls hide as expected! It works for me sometime but you can try it! If you get the same bug again, you might need to repeat the process.
