ARD Not Active when connected to a different network

I'm trying to remotely connect to my home laptop (MacBookPro 2023 with MacOS Sequoia 15.2 and ARD 3.9.8) using another laptop (MacBookAir 2024, MacOS Sequoia 15.2 and ARD 3.9.8).

The connection works perfectly when both laptops are on the same network. However, when I'm away from my home network, ARD shows my home laptop status as "ARD Not Active". What could be a possible cause/ solution for that?
