update for photos

The latest update really upset the way I store my photos. I want to reverse the update to eliminate the changes. I would use time machine but that has also been eliminated. I don't want any of the add ons like memories, just catagorized files with my pics undisturbed.

iPad mini, iOS 12

Are you asking about Photos for Mac or Photos iOS (iPhone, iPad)? It is not clear, because you mention Time Machine, which is only available on a Mac, but below your question it says "iPad", and iOs 12.

The Photos.app is installed by the system. To revert to a previous version of Photos, you need to install an earlier system version. On a Mac you would reinstall an older system, and then restore an older version of your Photos Library from a Time Machine backup. Older versions of Photos cannot work with a Photos Library that has been updated to a newer version of Photos.

Also, on a Mac, Memories are under Collections, and really, you never have to look at it. On an iPad, at the bottom of the main window,

is Customize & Reorder.

If you click on that, you see this menu

showing the sections in the sidebar. You can uncheck Memories, if you like, and it will no longer be there. Same with Trips, etc.

One of the best things about the new setup is that you can customize it to your needs. This works on the iPhone, as well.
