The Magnetic Mask doesn't have a fill opacity button, so I duplicated the clip and inverted the mask to place it on top. However, I discovered that it can't be rendered, leading to repeated export failures! When the same Magnetic Masks are not overlapping, the export works fine.
Does anyone have a better solution to this problem? Or can Apple fix this ? Maybe give it a opacity button to keyframe ?

In the FCP 11 project, I duplicated a video clip of a restaurant menu, placed the duplicated clip on top of the original clip in the timeline, used magnetic mask to mask out the menu in the top clip, and color graded that menu apart from the background of the clip underneath.
I am editing on a 2023 MacBook Pro (M2 Max) with FCP 11, Compressor 4.9 and Sonoma 14.7.1

Does exporting a file from FCP work?
I recall seeing a post here about Send to Compressor not working if the project contained a magnetic mask. Please report it to Apple via Final Cut Pro->Provide Final Cut Pro Feedback... or use this link Feedback - Final Cut Pro - Apple
Or create a custom preset in Compressor, make that a Share option in FCP, forget opening Compressor at all.
Good idea, thanks Luis … exporting directly from FCP does work. So perhaps the workaround for now is to export a high-res ProRes video from FCP, import that ProRes file into Compressor, and use Compressor to customize the h.264 settings. Thank you!
I get the ‘ missing Magnetic Mask mattes’ error but I can cancel or continue. Continue actually produced an output regardless of it indicating it would fail. I only used the export function, I don’t know of any other way as I’m a beginner with FCP.

Thanks for the suggestion Ben, I’ll try creating a Compressor preset for FCP and see if the same hangup occurs.
Yep using a Compressor preset within FCP does the trick. So must be a bug in Compressor.
Same here. Using Magnetic mask with Compressor is causing the problem.
same problem here, Compressor render sows te missing mgnetic mask mattes, wile FC11 renders are ok but without the magnetic mask, so the clip as it is
Update: closing and opening FC11 renders the video with the magnetic mask applied, Compressor wont
