Messages Strips Numbered List Formatting from Notes

Every morning I write a numbered list in Notes. I share this list with some contacts via Messages by copying and pasting. I do this in iPad and iPhone. Doing this has retained the numbers.

Recently, sometime within the last few updates, Messages has started stripping the numbers. So, when I copy my numbered list from Notes, and paste it into Messages, the numbering is stripped, and I'm left with somewhat difficult to distinguish paragraphs, rather than numbered paragraphs.

I've tried copying and pasting my numbered list from Notes into Mail, and the formatting is retained. This leads me to believe it is a problem with the recipient app, Messages, rather than the originating app, Notes.

I've also confirmed that bullets are now also stripped. While copying and pasting bulleted lists from Notes into Messages used to retain the bullets, now, again, the bullets are absent, and the paragraphs are hard to distinguish.

I've looked in Settings, and I can't find anything useful in there. I am aware that the Messages are plaintext (or, well, used to be; the stripping of the numbers & bullets predated the rich text iMessaging), so I know that the formatting wasn't being copied over, but rather a number or bullet itself was coming over.

I hope this is a setting I can turn back on. Does anyone know if Apple made this change intentionally?
