I had this account recovery problem first “This account is not active” and applied for a password reset which was granted. Days later, my Apple ID has been struck as inactive even though I have applied for another password reset since Monday and have seen no email since then..does anyone know what might be wrong?

I know you were just told to contact Apple, but actually this is something you can check for yourself:
"Check the status of your request
At any time, you can see how long it will be until your account is ready for recovery, or when more information will be available. Just go to https://iforgot.apple.com and enter your Apple ID."
