Unable to set up new iPad because it stalls on IOS Software Update - A fix which worked for me
I have read numerous posts about this issue online from very frustrated Apple Users. It also relates to other models of iPad and iPhone.
This is the fix which worked for me.
Firstly I backed up all my data etc from my old iPad using iCloud storage. Apple provides customers with free temporary storage to enable them to do this if they do not have enough storage.
I did not subsequently use my old iPad to set up my new iPad.
I then set up my new iPad Pro 13.
Follow the prompts but do not use Quick Start.
Select - Set up Manually - Set Up Without Another Device.
Follow all the prompts including syncing data from iCloud.
All the data from my old iPad was transferred to my new iPad.
The installation then completed the Software Update without a hitch.
It ended up being a pretty quick and uneventful process.
