iCloud Drive very slow to sync

I suspect Apple have not/will not fix this, and I know I’m not alone. iCloud Drive simply will not reliably, and rapidly sync. I have key documents created on my iMac that I need to use remotely on both my iPhone and my iPad. The whole idea of a synchronised file system is just that. Paying to wait (possibly beyond the deadline when I need the remote access) is extremely annoying. Surely not rocket science……….. or is it? Can anyone shed light on this please? Apple are you listening? I want a ‘Force Sync’ function!!
