Issues paying with Apple Pay with my Amex card

Apple Pay has declined my purchase then sent the payment this has happened on at least two occasions lately , I’ve been in touch with my card provider they’re answer was go back to the merchant . ( not very helpful ).

no it’s a different credit card I’m based in the uk , the card is working fine the problem has arisen when using Apple Pay on my phone , the credit card has been charged even after the Apple Pay declined the purchase , the shop/ merchant didn’t receive any notification their end but payment was still taken , it could be down to poor internet connection but I’m bemused to why the payment was taken , normally a declined payment would go to pending payments on your credit card app then disappear off there and not get charged for.

hope your keeping up to speed with this as it a bit long winded.

There a few community members reporting issues in Europe. Those may be related to both iPhone iOS updates and merchant updates for their POS system.

What country are you in?

I said Europe, but I believe the majority of issues have been more UK oriented. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.

It’s an American Express issue and I’d follow up every 30 days or so with AM/EX support and see what they say.

Have you tried at multiple merchants?

A few community members have posted they had success removing the card from Apple Wallet, restarting the iPhone and adding it again. You could try it and see what happens.
